The common home of photography The Italian national photography associations brought about "ORVIETO FOTOGRAFIA", an event which in only a few years has become Europe's most important international conference. After six successful editions the same associations and 29 photographers created a permanent Foundation for the promotion and development of professional photography, both at national and international levels. The Orvieto Fotografia International Foundation was founded in Rome on September 15th 2004 with the aim of contributing to the professional development of photographers. The Orvieto Fotografia International Foundation is an umbrella body for professional photography which aims to organise not only the annual convention,which will remain its biggest single event, but also other initiatives in Italy and abroad. Our desire is to construct a common home for photography under the logo of Orvieto Fotografia which can contain all professional associations, involve schools, museums and trade fairs, as well as sector industries, editors and authors of photography books. The resources for the Foundation, which is a no-profit association, come from the direct contributions of its members. It is worth emphasising this aspect so the numerous and future members of the Orvieto Fotografia Foundation know that their membership represents a contribution to the growth of the profession and an opportunity to fully appreciate that most universally recognised language and art form: photography.
